An outstanding CCJ can impact a credit score and an ability to get a new job. So it will be important to check if you have one. Here are some tips to improve your employment credit history. When making an application for employment in the financial, insurance, insolvency, or fraud industry, it is worth considering making a check list of steps you can take to avoid a county court judgment impacting your employment application prospects. Employment agencies, HR managers for different regulated industries will choose to carry out thorough employee background checks.

To continue to improve your employment credit file, take time to carry out a few strategies in advance. If you have received a judgement and you have the letter in front of you from the court service, the letter will tell you who to make the payment to and when. You will need to contact the court where the judgment was issued about whether you are able to work out a payment plan if you are not able to pay the CCJ right away. It’s worth checking with the court the date of the CCJ, whether it is an old one or just come through the post.

Check for old county court judgements.

If you find an historical judgment and you think that the judgment was made inappropriately, you can take it up with the court where it was issued. You can challenge the decision and the court will decide whether the judgement should be struck off the record or something else needs to happen. Should the court find in your favour contact the Registry Trust and credit reference agencies to update your credit records. By doing so, your credit file will have been repaired and your score will improve

Monitor your Credit Report

To continue to improve your employment credit file, it is worth checking with all the credit reference agencies that your employment credit record is updated. There can be two kinds of errors or mistakes that can be made on your credit file. The first can be personal information, this can be easy to do if there is a misspelt name or address. The second can normally be related to financial information, this can only be changed by the bank or finance company who it relates to.

If you don’t update, what maybe left on your credit file will have a severe impact on your credit score and your ability to obtain employment in the regulated service industry as they often look for candidates with a clean credit history. Yes, sometimes it can be a drag however, if you are willing to put in the effort at least every 3-6 months, your credit file will be as clean and as strong as it can be.
